March 12, 2020

In response to the concerns of the Corona virus / COVID-19, the annual Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer Club meeting will be postponed. Originally scheduled for Monday, March 16th, the Glastonbury Hartwell Board of Directors will discuss a possible make-up date. Any updates or new dates will be posted on the Hartwell website, social media pages, and in the Glastonbury Citizen.

In concern for the wellbeing and safety of our players, coaches, referees, and their families, Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer Club has been monitoring the Corona virus exposure along with guidance from the Town of Glastonbury and Glastonbury Public Schools.

We are following US Soccer as well as Connecticut Junior Soccer Association ("CJSA") for additional information pertaining to the safety of playing the game.

At this time, all other competitions and programs operated by Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer Club will continue as scheduled. Should there be any change to our position, we will update all parties involved via email, our website, and social media.

To reinforce health safety and best practices for illness prevention, please review the list of recommended prevention and self care precautions below:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow the CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Corona virus.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer Club.
